Day Eleven - Wednesday - Part two

Well, we have sufficiently tuckered Brandon right out!  With no IV and no feeding tube, he is a little low on energy today.  He used everything he did have for physical therapy, which went really well.  He is using his right side, which is really weak, a little more every day.

He went on a little outing today.  He got to go outside and then into the meditation room.  The speech therapist was asking him some questions today and he said he thought he was in Provo and that he's been in the hospital for about a year.  She asked him if he knew what happened and he shrugged his shoulders.  He didn't know who the governor was, but he didn't know that before the accident.  However, she gave him some pretty hard words to read and he got all of them.

He ate a good lunch today, but because of his lack of energy, they had to replace his feeding tube.  Let's hope he doesn't pull it out this time.  He isn't as frustrated as he was when he first woke up, so hopefully we'll be okay.  The speech  therapist has to watch him while he eats for a little while because they are afraid of him aspirating again.  He is also pretty dehydrated.

They are going to start giving him a little something to get him going in the morning. They said it will help stimulate  his brain and get it healing a little faster.  Kassi was able to spend some of the day with him and was here to encourage him with his walking.  I've attached some video of his progress.  He's a strong guy, but this is really kicking his butt.  Hopefully once we get him hydrated and get some of that yummy yellow goop in him, he'll be feeling better.
